Weasels & Windows
Whenever spring rolls around (or anytime for that matter), you may be opening your windows now and then to let in some
of those fresh spring breezes. Don't forget your fuzzies, though! If
your ferrets are free-roaming, or allowed to free-roam in your house certain
times of day, keep windows shut while they are out and about. Don't risk
the horror of your beloved furball falling out an open window.

And don't count on screens to hold them in! If you
insist on having the windows open while the fuzzies roam, make sure there are
screens on each open window, and that the screens are firmly secured in their
frames. Also make sure the screens are in good shape, without holes or
scratches. I walked into my home office one day just in time to see one of
my babies' backsides disappearing through a hole in a window screen. The
hole was tiny, but she had managed to scratch it open further. This was
out of a second floor window and I caught her by her hind legs just in time!
It was the very window you see in the photo on this page, and that's the little
escape artist in the photo too, facing the camera with her mouth open as if to
say, "Dare me!"
Always surpervise your ferrets' free-roaming play times.
Their wonderful little lives are too short as it is and you don't want the
heartbreak of losing them any sooner.
Have a safe and wonderful spring, summer or anytime
open-window season!
