I have looked at (and
bought!) a number of different cages over the years, and NOTHING beats Peter
Koch's handmade cages.
Most multi-level cages by
other makers have shelves that are open on the sides. If you have
playful, active ferrets (aren't they all?), they can fall over the edge of
these open shelves and tumble down one or more levels. Most of Koch's
cages have full (wall-to-wall) shelves, with an opening only for the ramp
that leads up or down to the next level. This greatly decreases the
chance of injury due to falls.
Koch's cage doors are also the easiest to open and
close I have ever seen. The doors require only one hand to open and
close, which is important when you are juggling ferrets in the other hand!
My favorite model is the Phantom Castle.
