You must be extremely careful what you give your ferret in the way of toys.  They are insatiably curious (and often insatiably hungry), so they will chew on just about everything.

Cheweasels

The best and safest toy on the market can also serve as a snack.  Cheweasels are star-shaped treats made from protein-based, human-grade food materials, and they are 100% digestible.

These are available from many sources, one of which is www.theferretstore.com

Tennis Balls

Tennis balls are also excellent.  Some suppliers carry miniature tennis balls, but even the regular size balls are not too big for even the smallest ferret!  It's hilarious to watch a  tiny, young ferret grab a tennis ball five times larger than her head and cart it off to a hiding place!  (She will grab it by the felt hairs on the edge of the ball, since she will not be able to get her mouth around it!  But this will deter her not a wit.)

Balls pictured are available from www.drsfostersmith.com.

Never give your ferret any kind of sponge or foam rubber ball or toy - they will chew on it until little pieces come off.  If they swallow any of pieces, the material could cause an intestinal blockage, which could result in death.  The same goes for stuffed toys with hard plastic eyes and other such items.  Think of it this way - anything you would not give an infant for fear of her swallowing small parts, do not give a ferret.
