I have not heard of any specific studies regarding ferrets and incense sticks, but any kind of continuous combustion in the home (burning candles, etc.) is NOT good for pets (or people!) unless you have adequate ventilation. To ensure adequate ventilation, leave windows slightly open or keep a small fan on a low setting to blow the smoke away from the pets. Is it possible for you to keep the ferrets in a different room where you burn the incense? If not, then keep the ferret cage at the other end of the room where you are burning the incense to be on the safe side.
