Joint Custody

Hello FerretLady!

My son and our family are new ferret owners. My question is this:
We have two households. My son spends 50% of the time with me and 50% of the time at his mom's. Is it healthy for Joe (our ferret) to be carted (cage and all) between homes? If so, are there things that we should be doing to make this transition easier for him?
Thank you so much for your input.

Sincerely,
Dan Cole

Dear Dan:

Absolutely not a problem.  Ferrets are highly adaptable and extremely social, so the more people to play with them, the better!  Too many ferrets are left alone in cages all day and rarely played with.

Also, ferrets are highly intelligent and very curious, so the traveling back and forth would be very stimulating for them.  Your ferrets are lucky they have so many people who want to play with them!
